I'm baaaack!! I had the most amazing wedding and honeymoon. It was everything I ever wished for a little girl. Even my dad who walked me down the aisle was pretty amazed at how beautiful everything turned out. I can not believe it is over, done, finished! It seems like a blur to me......For those of you that want to see some photos of me email me and I will send them to you. Anyway.....I see Zero and Ilene had a bit of fun?? I agree with Ilene Skittles are fruit flavored candies! Thank you both for watching the fort while I was away. I want to take a second to wish my wife a Happy Birthday!! Yep her birthday is today. Have a good weekend everyone.

Liberty News...Ok we lost again. We are not doing that well at all. We won one game out of all we played so far. Thank you Zero and Ilene, once again for following up for me on my beloved Liberty!!

    Thursday May 29, 2008

OK, this is it for me this week. Heartbrkn, AKA Sadie Sadie married lady (am I showing my age?), is back and whether ready to get back in the grind or not, it's her job to make sure us kids play nice. On a final note, hey Zero, what do you think of what Wii has done to your skittles?

  • Leigh's Story by Peewee on The Athenaeum [alt, original]
Sequel to the Lake. Jilly is all grown up and about to fall in love. How will Jack react to her happiness?

    Wednesday May 28, 2008

OK, Folks. My turn again!! I guess a bunch of land and a big ole' ocean really helps in the playing nice department :) Getting back to Saturday's little discussion. I know skittles very well. They're that little round fruit candy that tastes like a rainbow. What on earth does being hungry have to do with a perfectly good sport like bowling?!?!?!? Trust me, Zero, the game works better with wooden pins and rubber balls (don't go taking that the wrong way) than stones. You did say your game was ancient, right?

And you heard it hear first, everyone. Cricket isn't a game! I won't even suggest what people are praying for. And I must admit, although I kind of can follow the game, I'm not up on what a test match is. Does that mean it lasts even longer? Oh, and is it appropriate to wish people a good "LSBH"?

OK, enough rambling for one time. On with the update!

  • Noise by Spyrel on The Athenaeum [alt, original]

I understand that you had a public holiday in the USA this weekend. Memorial Day. I won't wish you a happy one because it's not really a thing to be happy about - the deaths of so many young men and women. Grateful - certainly. Proud - possibly. Honoured by their sacrifice - absolutely. But not happy. But I will say I hope you all had a good day. And those of you who have family members serving, or who are under colours yourselves - be safe.

Right - in a lighter vein, it was a bank holiday here too - used to be called "Whitsun" but in our current PC world that simply won't do - so it's now "Late Spring Bank Holiday". It rained of course. And - returning to the cricket. Didn't we do well in the second test against the Kiwis??

  • When Xena Was Callisto by IseQween on Merwolf's Academy of Bards (classic/alt/complete)
When the Warrior Princess remains trapped in the body of her worst nemesis, Gabrielle must prove to herself, angry villagers and Xena that the killer on trial is actually a different person. This story offers an alternate version of what happened between the end of INTIMATE STRANGER and the beginning of TEN LITTLE WARLORDS.

    Saturday May 24, 2008

Hi folks. Zero standing in for Heartbrkn today as she's still away on honeymoon. Of course we're playing nice Ilene. We haven't come to blows yet. *g*. And as far as bowling is concerned - trust you Yanks to take a perfectly good game like skittles, add a pin and then change the name to bowling. Thereby confusing all those who understand the real and ancient game of bowling (crown green also known as bowls). Oh and cricket?? It isn't a game. It's a religion!!

Now - quick report on Heartbrkn's beloved Liberty. They won, beating the Mystics 79 to 60.

    Thursday May 22, 2008

Hey all. It's been a quiet day. Did anyone else watch Dancing with the Stars and think Kristie was the best but would lose on the vote, and then was surprised when the best dancer actually did win? Anyone wonder about American Idol? I have to admit that's one I don't watch. But I can't wait to see who thinks they can dance and obviously doesn't have any friends to tell them the truth. I am, of course, talking about the tryouts for So You Think You Can Dance!

Firstly, here's sending Heartbrkn a big ole Mazel Tov on her weddding. Not that she'll be reading this any time soon, but it's the thought that counts. Secondly, I think our friend the Brit has a lot of nerve trash talking a wonderful American sport like basketball (football, fine, but not basketball). After all, let's consider what those "across the pond" consider sport - a game that takes DAYS to finish that no one but them can understand. Can you stay awake long enough to say cricket? Everyone knows you roll a ball to bowl, not toss it at a bunch of sticks called a wicket!! Hey Zero, are we playing nice like Heartbrkn warned us?!?!?!? Of course, we won't be hearing from Zero again until the weekend, which gives her plenty of time for a response. :)

  • Galina of Morwea Woods by J. A. Bard on The Athenaeum [alt, original]
    Added Part 7

    Tuesday May 20, 2008

While she's on her honeymoon Heartbrkn wanted us to keep you up-to-date with the New York Liberty. As I understand it they play some curious American sport rather than a sensible game like football (real football that is not that throwing game they invented across the pond). *g*. I checked the website for her (and you) and I don't expect she's too happy with them. They played their season opener at home and lost to Connecticut Sun by 77 points to 63. Still, it's only the first game. Perhaps now they've cleared the cobwebs out Thursday's game against Washington will be better.

Congratulations to Heartbrkn. Have a great honeymoon, Boss. And don't worry the site is safe in our hands... the sound of evil laughter drifts across the Atlanic... oh yeah, totally safe.
Yeah Ilene - that's how it's spelt. One welly, a pair of wellies. Now I'll just have to teach you the ancient British sport of welly-whanging (things that sound dirty but aren't). *g*

  • Fighting the Effects by nut56 on Merwolf's Academy of Bards (classic/alt/complete)
This story explores the feelings of both Xena and Gabrielle when Gabrielle is stuck down by an enemy which Xena cannot protect her from. Although this is ultimately a story about courage and survival, it does deal with the effects of breast cancer, both physical and psychological, and should perhaps be avoided by anyone likely to be upset by this. There is some mild subtext, but this comes second to the love and strength of the two women.

    Wednesday May 14, 2008

I'd love to take it away....somewhere....anywhere. Today is the second day in three that we had torrential rain, the other being Mother's Day. I'm starting to think things (of course I mean the forest preserve where we take the dogs) are never going to dry out. Good thing I invested in a pair of wellies (hey, Zero, is that how you Brits spell it?) Anyway, here's a whole lot of stories to enjoy should you be stuck in to stay out of the rain.

It was 27 degrees here today. Twenty-seven flamin' degrees celsius. I think spring has finally arrived. Makes a change from all that rain. Pretty much everybody I spoke to said "It's been a lovely day but much too hot." Typical Brits - always talk about the weather and never happy with it. *g*. Ah well - that's me done for the week - over to Ilene tomorrow. Take it away girl...

My email is driving me nuts!! It seems to be working again - I just wish I could figure out why it keeps failing. I was blaming the laptop but it's not its fault. Then I blamed yahoo - but they swear it's not them. So I blamed my isp - but I share the connection and I'm the only one having problems. I guess it's just me. If you hear a roar of anger, a hell of a lot of swearing and a big crash which seems to be coming from SW England you'll know I've finally cracked and thrown the laptop at the wall!! Until then - here (I hope) are your updates.
